Vegetables that help your skin glow and actually have been proven to tan your skin naturally without the sun.

Did you know that it has now been proven by scientists that certain vegetables give you a natural looking tan that starts to show up within a month to 6 weeks of consuming them daily.

I found this hard to believe until I learned that researchers at the University of Bristol, UK have found that the carotenoids (red and yellow antioxidents) commonly found in fruits and vegetables such as carrots, yellow and red peppers, tomatos, melons, spinich and apricots help you to turn over new skin cells at a faster rate. This causes our skin to glow and the carotenoids come to the surface faster to give us the tan. Since our bodies tend to regenerate the new skin cells at a slower rate as we age it is imperative that we get the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables daily.

The scientists also set up a computer program that allowed participants in the study to change the images of 51 faces by increasing or decreasing their skin tone based on suntan or carotenoids. The scientists told the participants to make the faces look as healthy as possible. It turned out that they preferred the carotenoid skin color over the skin tanned by the sun.

In addition to giving you the glowing tan these same vegetables are the ones that inpact the immune system and reproduction. They have been shown to help protect the skin from the damaging effects of sun exposure. Two benefits for the same price of eating your veggies- what could be better?

As of now the US government websites are suggesting a minimum of 5 veggies per day. But I have also heard that other sites are now saying you should have from 7-13 servings of fruits and vegetables daily.

This said, most Americans (and most likely people thoroughout the world) are severely deficent in the nutrients and health benefits that can only be obtained from consuming fruits and vegetables.

Probably the best way to get all these fruits and veggies into your body is by juicing at least some if not all. As eating the 5 to 7 plus that your body need is going to be nearly impossible for most of us this way it is possible to get them all into you.

I love to juice and after being on a new healthy lifeplan of juicing and healthy eating now for 2 months, I can say it is definately worth it, if not for just all the complements I am getting from friends and relatives.  But also for the way I feel inside, I am feeling so much healthier, and I do not feel sluggish and lethargic all the time.

So I tell you this to hopfully make a difference in your life as well.  You can do it!!!!!!

Hi!

I've tried this but it is really hard eating so much veggies. Witch veggies/fruits and Colors do you eat? Witch veggies/fruits do you make juice out of?

Have you ever tried juicing carrots and apples? They are delicious together and are a great detox for your total body. 2-4 carrots and an apple or 2 will do the trick. I also eat lots of tomatos in the summer when I can get the heirlooms they are out of this world yummy. The carrots and the tomatos really help to clear up your complexion. cheers.
